CulturAiles, website dedicated to human factors in air safety, it presents new and innovative training suggestions about aviation safety
Air Safety - Air Safety Directions: CRM

Third direction
: CRM, TEM and other resources management concepts

Cockpit crew Resources Management (CCRM)
Cabin crew Resources Management (CARM)
Company Operations and Managers Resources Management (COMRM)

Maintenance Resources Management (MRM)
Traffic Resources Management (TRM)
Other ground operators Resources Management (GRM)

Threat Errors Management (TEM)

Third direction: CRM, TEM and other resources management concepts

The result of current CRM training course is crews are pretty well trained for normal situation. On the other side, crews appear weak during deteriorated situations.
Seven new CRM training courses can be proposed.

Cockpit crew Resources Management (CCRM)
Innovative course with brand new directions:

  1. Cognitive management (see above Second Directions: Human Factors Concepts)
  2. Threat and errors management (TEM)

This training course develop and focus on how the cognitive system works in normal and deteriorated situations
As required by most of the CAA regulations, these concepts could also be trained during:

  • Commander CRM
  • conversion CRM (new aircraft type)

Primary publics: cockpit crew and cabin crews. It is mandatory both attend in a same session.
Secondary publics: maintenance and engineering, ground, etc. (at least, one representative of each company department), one representative from other organisations (ATC, Airport, etc.).
The benefits of joint sessions are tremendous:

  1. increase the level of integration within the company
  2. allow jobs to be known
  3. mix different points of view
  4. allow to know each jobs constraints
  5. each job is a connection of the safety chain
  6. promote the company
  7. etc.

Cabin crew Resources Management (CARM)

Innovative course with brand new directions:

  1. Cognitive management (see above Second Directions: Human Factors Concepts)
  2. Threat and errors management (TEM)

As required by most of the CAA regulations, these concepts could also be trained during conversion CRM (new aircraft type).

Primary publics: Cockpit and cabin crew must share joint CRM sessions.
Secondary publics: Other jobs from each department.
Here again, the benefits of joints sessions are tremendous:

  1. increase the level of integration within the company
  2. allow jobs to be known
  3. mix different points of view
  4. allow to know each jobs constraints
  5. each job is a connection of the safety chain
  6. etc.

Company Operations and Managers Resources Management (COMRM)

It is not a management training course, but a course to improve the way the company executives interact and decide within an aviation environment. It mainly focus on the Human Factors aspects of operations in complex systems.

The first goal is to show how decisions could have deep consequences on the flight safety.
The second goal is to demonstrate each one is a piece other the safety chain.

Primary publics:
Managers and operations staff.
Secondary publics: Other jobs from each department.
Here again, the benefits of joints sessions are tremendous:

  1. increase the level of integration within the company
  2. allow jobs to be known
  3. mix different points of view
  4. allow to know each jobs constraints
  5. each job is a connection of the safety chain
  6. etc.

Maintenance Resources Management (MRM)

It is a resources management course for staff member in charge with maintenance and mechanical operations on aircrafts. It mainly focus on the Human Factors aspects of operations in complex systems.

The first goal is to show all technicians the way they work and their decisions/actions could have consequences on the safety of the flights.
The second goal is to demonstrate each one is a piece other the safety chain.

Primary publics: Engineering and Maintenance staff.
Secondary publics: Cockpit crew, cabin crew, other jobs from each department.
Here again, the benefits of joints sessions are tremendous:

  1. increase the level of integration within the company
  2. allow jobs to be known
  3. mix different points of view
  4. allow to know each jobs constraints
  5. each job is a connection of the safety chain
  6. etc.

Traffic Resources Management (TRM)

It is a resources management course for Air Traffic Controller
The first goal is to show all controllers the way they work and their decisions/actions could have consequences on the safety of the flights.
The second goal is to demonstrate each one is a link in the the safety chain.

Primary publics: Air traffic controllers.
Secondary publics: cockpit crew, cabin crew, other jobs from different organisations.
Here again, the benefits of joints sessions are tremendous:

  1. increase the level of integration within the company
  2. allow jobs to be known
  3. mix different points of view
  4. allow to know each jobs constraints
  5. each job is a connection of the safety chain
  6. promotes ATC system
  7. etc.

Other ground operators Resources Management (GRM)

It is a resources management course for ALL other operators working daily for the aviation industry (mainly airport staff), and linked (directly or indirectly) to airplanes (refuellers, load masters, marshaller, porter, etc.).
The first goal is to show all technicians the way they work and their decisions/actions could have consequences on the safety of the flights.
The second goal is to demonstrate each one is a piece other the safety chain.

Primary publics: Airports staff .
Secondary publics: cockpit crew, cabin crew, other jobs from different organisations.
Here again, the benefits of joints sessions are tremendous:

  1. increase the level of integration within the company
  2. allow jobs to be known
  3. mix different points of view
  4. allow to know each jobs constraints
  5. each job is a connection of the safety chain
  6. promotes airport system
  7. etc.

Threat Errors Management (TEM)
